    The PROMISE Master is planned to open in September 2019.
    This master is recognized by the ITAA program and designed in the framework of the European KAAT project

    The development of “smart” air transport will be a major challenge over the next 15 years. This will lead to the creation of intelligent jobs performed by a highly-qualified workforce with multi-disciplinary skills and knowledge.  This workforce needs training that will allow a combination of periods of work on the ground with the acquisition of theoretical knowledge.

    The program includes the preparation for 4 professional certificates in the fields of Project Management (PMI’s CAPM), Agile Management (Scrum), IT (ITIL), and Management.

    The Erasmus+ project: Knowledge Alliance in Air Transport (KAAT) is a multi-stakeholder international project financed by the European Union.
    It aims to bridge the gap between the two paths of education and training in the aviation sector (university and professional), and to encourage a new form of cooperation between universities and companies that will anticipate future demand in the aviation jobs market in terms of aptitudes and skills, in order to ensure a better-qualified workforce that can stand up to ferocious international competition. PROMISE is a master degree part of the development program of master ITAA (IT Applied in Aviation).

    For these reasons, this Erasmus+ project develops European study programmes that apply innovative teaching and learning approaches based on IT and communication technology tools, using the knowledge of 17 partners coming from the educational institutions and businesses of 6 countries:

    This innovative partnership, which includes universities, training providers, airports, airlines, maintenance and handling companies, air services providers and regulatory and international bodies, gives aeronautics education an international dimension and enables the creation of  a European network for aeronautical education and training.

    Thus, whilst setting up crossing points between the academic world and the aeronautics sector, this course will be a vector for the modernization of higher education.

    The Erasmus+ project Knowledge Alliance in Air Transport (KAAT), started on 1st January 2018, and IMT Mines Albi is Co-leader of theWP3 lot concerning the creation of the syllabus of the new IT Applied in Aviation Master, as well as contributing to other lots in the project.

    The project leader is the Politenhica University of Bucarest.

    TO APPLY

    Admission requirements

    Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in sciences or in engineering with one of the following options:

    • Aviation
    • Aeronautics
    • Information systems
    • Computer sciences

    Professional experience in the field of aviation or the development of information systems is highly welcome.

     

    Language level required

    English:

    • Native language OR
    • Degree course delivered in English OR
    • Language test:
      • TOEFL IBT 80
      • IELTS 6.0
      • TOEIC 750
      • Cambridge CAE

    No minimum required in French. The TEF II or equivalent may be required in order to obtain a visa.

    The training program is multidisciplinary and will involve major companies from the air transport industry.
    The ranges of topics span aircraft, communication, navigation and surveillance systems, airport operations, avionics technology, certification, project management, human factors, investigations, IT applications and collaborative applications dedicated to Airports, Airlines and Air Traffic Management.

    The program is structured around the following themes:

    • Strategic Management in Aviation
    • Aviation Operations Optimization Methods
    • Modeling Theory And Tools in Aeronautical Industry
    • Specific Platforms and Tools for Aeronautical Industry
    • ATM Information Network Management
    • Aviation Safety Management
    • Student Research Project

    The purpose of the advanced master is to provide the students with a broad range and depth of interdisciplinary knowledge in :

    • systems engineering and applications dedicated to aircraft, air traffic control and air - ground integration, digitalization of airports and developing higher cooperation between aircraft, airports, ATC and airlines through new avionics systems;

    • in airport planning, in optimization of air traffic and airport operations;

    • ICT engineering ad development.

    Other learning outcomes are mainly reached through the project management modules and internships :

    • critically and independently review and evaluate their own work and that of others;

    • demonstrate both confidence and effectiveness in:

      • communication and its support through appropriate IT facilities;

      • the setting of objectives and the planning and management of time and resources;

      • management and team working skills;

      • approach professional problems and challenges with initiative, responsiveness, decisiveness and confidence.

    Instruction will be delivered through various mediums, including lecture, e-learning, on line courses and study cases, airport, airline or systems simulation, on-site visits to air transport and IT industry facilities, internships and projects completed with industry partners.

  • Learning outcomes:

    • integrate and apply their skills to the solution of a real engineering problem involving some combination of computational, experimental and theoretical techniques as for example: airport master planning and design, airport capacity assessment and optimization, market analysis and aviation demand forecast, simulation software and simulation services; implementation of ITC in airports systems, airliners and in air traffic control;
    • demonstrate ability to deal with complex and contradictory knowledge, critically analyzing complex problems and be able to develop new approaches to problem solving in ICT applied on airports, airlines and ATC;

     

     In organisations such as civil aviation (airline companies, companies performing air works, providers of navigation services, aviation operation services, maintenance organisations, handling and catering companies) or ITC developpers with a focus on the aviation.
