Eiffel Excellence: recruiting and training tomorrow's elite

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program was established by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to help French higher education institutions attract top international students to their degree programs. Every year, IMT Mines Albi trains students who have received this prestigious scholarship.

Congratulations to BACK NLEND KEVIN EINSTEIN, who has been awarded the 2024 Eiffel Excellence scholarship. He will be attending IMT Mines Albi in September 2024. We sat down with the scholarship recipient and future IMT Mines Albi student.

Meet BACK NLEND KEVIN EINSTEIN

Could you tell us a little about yourself?

back nlend

My name is BACK NLEND KEVIN EINSTEIN, and I am currently a fourth-year student in the Electromechanical program, specializing in mechatronics at the Private Higher School of Engineering and Technology or ESPRIT in Tunisia. I am from Cameroon and was fortunate enough to be selected by ESPRIT as one of the three winners of the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship.

What does earning the Eiffel Excellence scholarship mean to you?

The Eiffel Scholarship has provided an invaluable opportunity for me to continue my studies at one of the most prestigious schools in France. It is also the culmination of two years of work to make a compelling application to qualify for this scholarship. Furthermore, this is an opportunity for me to represent the school that has provided me with an education. My thoughts are also with the extremely talented students who deserve this award just as much as me. Finally, I see this as a second chance on behalf of my younger self, as a second-year student in preparatory class who did not have the opportunity to take a competitive entrance exam for the Grandes Ecoles in France.

How were you supported throughout the application process?

The application process is fairly simple. First, IMT Mines Albi came to present the mobility opportunities. I completed the necessary interviews and tests and made it through. After completing this step, the schools, Esprit and IMT Mines Albi, suggested that I apply for the Eiffel scholarship program. I then submitted an application and waited for the results.

What made you choose IMT Mines Albi?

I found out about IMT Mines Albi in a catalogue of Esprit partners who offer mobility opportunities in France. I did some research and discovered that out of all the schools in this catalogue, IMT Mines Albi offered the best renewable energies program. The fact that it was a public school was also a plus. The school’s worldwide renown, particularly in Africa, was another deciding factor.

What do you hope to gain from your two years of studies in France?

I believe that in all things we must see the benefits and experience we will gain. What I expect from my two years in France is a different experience than the one I have had in Tunisia, where I currently live. I am above all here to further my education in an interesting field, yet I have not forgotten other important aspects of a young student’s life. I hope my experience will help me grow not only as an engineer but also as a man.

What are your plans for the future?

I have not yet clearly defined my plans for the future, but they will largely depend on my experience over the next two years. I would like to invest what I learn for the good of France, which has given me this educational opportunity. Yet I remain Cameroonian and have a strong desire to help my country progress.
