Endowment fund
An endowment fund is a non-profit-making private legal entity. With a structure that is midway between a trust and an association, it is authorized to receive donations and bequests within an incentivised tax framework.
The School endowment fund, created on 1 November 2014, represents a sponsorship tool for imagining and reproducing initiatives of general interest for IMT Mines Albi, which are appropriate to both the scientific and humanist traditions of the School. Its vocation is to bring together main partners, as well as private donors, whether alumni or not, in support of the School.

An IMT Mines Albi research Chair can be characterized by the following aspects:
An original, innovative theme, corresponding to a common need that is recognised and established by both the School and the company, with long-term goals. It is important that the theme agreed upon should be differentiating (particularly with regard to other research and educational institutions), and that it should generate a positive image for the company and be jointly developed with them. A pre-established high-level team at IMT Mines Albi, involved in raising research funding, with a designated project leader.
- It is possible to combine a research Chair with other types of cooperation simultaneously, overlaid or in succession
- A climate of confidence between partners, the result of several years of regular contact
- A significant financial investment by the company of at least three years
- The research project must address genuine scientific breakthroughs that are potentially applicable. It is supported by a high-level team of teachers and researchers, a large number of whom will come from the research laboratories of Mines Albi.
- A training project related to the scientific subject chosen for the research part of the Chair This training course, of a very high level, may take various forms: specific non-diploma courses, Masters 2 level courses (in French and English), Specialized Masters, etc.
- An animation and dissemination plan for the knowledge gained through the theme of the research Chair aimed at the scientific community and the industrial community, with the objective of gaining recognition for the expertise and results obtained by the Chair.
- Suitable, identified premises and resources (financial and human).
- Governance of the Chair reliant on one or several monitoring committees and involving the company, offering it access to the research and especially to high-level international research as well as joint management of communication.
