Student life

The Student office (BDE - Bureau des élèves) organises activities and evenings of all kind all year long. In 2012, in the ‘Nouvel Observateur’ rankings, the School was ranked 3rd engineering school in France in conviviality and quality of extracurricular life!

The BDE, an institution at IMT Mines Albi

Created at the same time as the School 25 years ago, the BDE is one of France’s most active. With its 32 clubs and 8 associations, students can engage in activities and events of their choice. The BDE is run by several highly-motivated students whose goal is to make student life in Albi a model of quality and conviviality.

The Meuh - at the heart of the student life in IMT Mines Albi!

Our students’ centre bears the sweet name of  “the Meuh”, in tribute to our mascot the cow! This is where made-in-Albi evenings and after-works are organised.

The Meuh includes:

  • a large main room where all social evenings take place. This room has its own sound system space that is comparable to that of a nightclub or bar;
  • several adjacent rooms: a photo lab, a music room, a piano room, a meeting room used as a working room for the Student Office and the club room which is used for small parties,
  • the inescapable pool tables and table football.

Events

The School offers its students numerous clubs and associations that allow them to get involved in a wide array of cultural, sporting and charitable activities.

Find the complete list of associations on the Student Office website

The gala

Every year, in November, the student gala takes places in Albi’s Exhibition centre. The flagship event of the year, it gathers students, school staff, former students and economic development professionals for an exceptional evening to celebrate the end of their 3 years of study.

The search for funding, entertainment, decorations, catering... Over the entire school year, a team of 60 students is involved in organising the evening. A task that requires numerous skills: teamwork, organization, project management and interaction with service providers.

Acthéa

The largest cultural event organised by students in the region, Acthéa is a European university festival of theatre, music and street arts. It is organised by the Acthéa club of the Student Office every year in April. Click here to learn more

Integration weekend: WEI

The WEI (Integration weekend) is a convivial and privileged moment for the School’s 1st and 2nd years, who get to know each other through numerous activities, during an unusual weekend in a town in the South of France.

The Mines Cartel

A major sports event bringing together all the Ecoles des Mines, the Cartel is unmissable. Every year, a member school hosts the others and defends their colours in sporting events, but always with the emphasis on conviviality. In 2019, it is our turn!

Sporting events

Sporting life is an intense and regular facet of student life at the School: the FEM’s (football), the OVNI (Open Indoor Volleyball Night) or even the ‘Challenge du Mineur’ (Miner’s rugby Challenge) all take place on campus.

We Ski

Enjoying the School’s privileged geographical situation, close to the Pyrenees, the Sports Office offers students a 3-day Ski weekend trip. On the agenda:  Ski cap, ski lifts, tartiflette and fondue.
Good atmosphere guaranteed whatever your level of skiing!

End of study weekend: The WEFE

Just before their departure for a 6-month end-of-year internship, the final year students fly to a sunny destination for the WEFE weekend trip.
