Inauguration of a unique immersive training program shared with the renowned Georgia Institute of Technology (USA)
With a firm focus on the future, IMT Mines Albi inaugurated the first international immersive training program on Thursday November 30, 2023.
A HYBRID CAMPUS SHARED WITH THE GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
The launch of the immersive training program with the Georgia Institute of Technology (USA), one of the world's leading research centers in the field of industrial engineering, is the result of a close collaboration initiated in 2016 by IMT Mines Albi's Industrial Engineering Center. This new program is the inaugural step in Institut Mines-Télécom’s strategy of deploying shared hybrid campuses abroad. Within the framework of international collaborations, it aims to develop the building blocks of partnerships in the fields of training and research, with a view to eventually creating common objects shared by Institut Mines-Télécom and world-renowned institutions.
A TWOFOLD EDUCATIONAL INNOVATION IN THE FIELD OF SUPPLY CHAINS
The training program developed jointly by IMT Mines Albi and Georgia Tech is an educational innovation. It focuses on the field of supply chains and concentrates on integrating innovative approaches, such as the Physical Internet and Artificial Intelligence, which provide a robust response to the instability of these systems. This program revolutionizes the teaching of logistics systems engineering, and enables students to obtain professional certificates and a dual Master’s of Science degree through lifelong learning or initial training.
Hybrid teaching will be delivered on an unprecedented immersive teaching platform called HITeC (Hybrid Immersive Teaching Campus), developed in conjunction with Immersive Factory. This training environment uses disruptive technologies, offering immersive, hybrid teaching at an unrivalled experiential level. This disruptive training program is associated with an ecosystem of industrial partners faced with the transition of supply chains. They will contribute case studies and real-life problems to the program.
HISTORIC PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN IMT MINES ALBI AND GEORGIA TECH
-
SIReN (Sentient Immersive Response Network), an international laboratory shared by IMT Mines Albi (Industrial Engineering Center) and Georgia Tech ISyE (Industrial and Systems Engineering). The laboratory works on interpreting the large volumes of data generated by complex industrial or collaborative systems (e.g. supply chain), and on exploiting this information for organizational management purposes. It conducts projects to apply its results in industrial contexts, notably in crisis management and supply chain management.
-
Collaborative research output: visiting professors, a dozen international co-directed PhD theses and some 50 international scientific communications (conferences and scientific publications).
-
A joint program designed to train the professionals who will create and operate the next generation of hyperconnected, sustainable and resilient logistics and supply ecosystems.
