The Medellin “metrocable’ is an urban cable car system which transformed the city. Implemented thanks to a partnership between Medellin municipal authorities and the French firm, POMA, this innovative project connects the city’s underprivileged hillside districts to its downtown with fast, reliable transport. By improving access to essential services, this means of transport facilitates the social and economic integration of marginalized communities. It creates new opportunities and thus contributes to local economic growth. The system transformed the urban landscape of Medellin and boosted its tourist appeal. The socially responsible company POMA worked closely with local authorities to ensure the smooth integration of the “metrocable” in the city.

IMT Mines Albi, a major engineering school with an eye on the world, contributed once again to Latin America Week by organizing a conference for the general public on a topical theme, i.e., sustainable mobility.
